A Joyful Year: Amitayus Long Life, Merit and Wisdom Retreat

January 1st retreat in three sessions

The New Year is a very auspicious time of the year, especially for making a connection with Buddha Amitayus.

Amitayus is the Buddha of long life, good fortune, and wisdom. He appears as a red-colored Buddha with a peaceful, smiling face, holding a vase full to the brim with long-life nectar. On top of the vase is a wish-granting tree. His beautiful body is decorated with glittering earrings, bracelets, anklets, pearls, and very long necklaces. He sits on a peacock throne and is surrounded by brilliant light.

There is nothing more precious to us than our life. We think wealth and pretty things are important and work very hard to get them, but we already have our most precious possession. Using our life in meaningful ways, we have the opportunity to experience every happiness, including Buddha’s enlightenment! Understanding this, we want to live a long time to enjoy ourselves and to practice Dharma.

During this retreat, Gen Kelsang Wangpo will guide us through the essential teachings and meditations on the practice of “ The Yoga of Buddha Amitayus”. Through engaging in this practice, we can strengthen our connection with Buddha Amitayus, increase our lifespan and wisdom and accumulate lots of merits.

If we are facing sickness or dangers that may take our life, we can turn and make sincere prayers to Buddha Amitayus. He has the power to protect us, and his blessings can increase our wisdom and help us live a long time.

Let’s increase our inner wealth together in the New Year.
